Running.... and cake!

This weekend held the 1st anniversary celebrations of Poole parkrun. For those who aren't familiar with the concept - it's great - you turn up at 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning and run 5k - it's free and you get an official time when you register for a barcode.

I generally tend to use parkrun as a justification for eating cake and this Saturday was a complete cakefest. Many of the runners had baked goodies for the event and it was a brilliant turnout.

It was a well attended event with top athletes running such as Liz Yelling, Martin Yelling and Steve Way.

The highlight for us was our Adidas adiSTAR Salvation 3 running shoe cake - it created a lot of attention and fantastic feedback. We even appeared in the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

Cupcake Camp Bournemouth

As well as donating cupcakes we spent the day volunteering at Cupcake Camp again this year as part of Team Cupcake.

It was a full on day with setting up the tables, coordinating cake donations as well as competition entries and making sure we were ready for the doors opening to the public at 2 p.m.

Once again it was a success with Cupcake Camp raising £3178 for NSPCC Childline.

We were thrilled to have won a category again this year, taking home an award for the Best Olympic Cupcake with our Olympic Torch cupcakes baked into airbrushed gold ice cream cones.

So it seems Valentine's Day is upon us once again. What are your plans this year? Quiet evening in? Dinner at a restaurant perhaps?

Boys... I guess your first port of call would be flowers, maybe even roses. Why conform to tradition, send cakes instead. Cheaper than flowers - yes that's right, they're cheaper than those nasty cheap excuses for roses that the supermarkets seem to love to wheel out at this time of year.

As for the girls.... well in theory, you give boys cake and with a  bit of luck you get to eat it too - it's a win win situation!

We're coming to London

Monday sees the launch of Internet Week Europe and for one day only on Wedneday will be iCake - a pop up cake shop full of geek inspired baked goodies.

We're very excited to be a part of this event hosted by Miss Cakehead and will have a range of cupcakes and apple pies on sale with any profit helping to raise money for UK charity Pancreatic Cancer Action.

So if you're into Angry Birds or Space Invaders then come on down and snaffle some good cake whilst raising money for a very worthy cause.
